Naturalist Guide: Conrad Hennig, Madagascar expert

From mountains at 3,000m, rainforests teeming with animals, to the dry semi-desert with its crazy octopus trees, there are surprises around every corner in Madagascar!  Isolated for about 88 million years, this magical Indian Ocean island is teeming with species of plants and animals found no where else on earth.  It is incredibly scenic, with friendly Malagasy people, and seas warm and teeming with coral reefs and fish.  We have designed the best possible expedition in Madagascar where you can feel the electricity of the air when it is pierced by the call of the Indri, the world's second loudest primate, or walk below the towering baobab, also know as the upside-down trees.

We have hand selected hotels and lodges known for their location, hospitality and comfort.  Denell is excited to share her third trip to Madagascar with you - come be part of the adventure and join her in meeting the locals and learning more about the wildlife, tribal culture and traditions of this land!  This trip is limited to 14 guests and is sure to be a popular fall adventure, so don't miss out - sign up soon!

If you want to extend your trip ask about an extension to relax on Reunion or Mauritius Island, or perhaps some time in South Africa for scenic self-drives, exploring city life in Cape Town, a "Grape Escape" to some renowned wineries or a safari to one of the excellent game parks.  A great way to wrap up an already amazing adventure!

Expert Guides

Sights & Sounds

Guided walks will get you up close with some of the most fascinating creatures on the planet – lemurs, tropical birds, chameleons, reptiles, and even carnivorous plants. You’ll be enchanted by the bizarre island landscapes, from treacherous limestone tsingys, to the drought adapted cacti-like spiny forest, to the rich mangrove swamps and rainforests. You’ll meet locals in their traditional villages and explore the flora and fauna of the rainforests.

Getting Around

Road travel in Madagascar can be difficult and very time consuming (days to get from one location to another) so we have chartered flights and booked private vehicles to maximize your time on the island.
