Itinerary

Board a chartered aircraft and fly nonstop from Calgary or Edmonton to Prince Rupert, BC.  The day begins with breakfast onboard a chartered jet.  Upon arrival in Prince Rupert, you will be shuttled to the dock where you will be welcomed aboard the Inside Passage, a 100 passenger, 72 foot catamaran, to cruise to the famous Khutzeymateen "Valley of the Grizzly". The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in North America, protects prime grizzly habitat. Some 50 grizzlies, along with numerous black bears, are known to make their home in the area. Situated northeast of Prince Rupert, the Khutzeymateen is only accessible by air and by water.

As we cruise north through Chatham Sound you will be fascinated with stories about the historic native villages and the spectacular scenery. Along the way, watch for porpoises, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, and blue herons as you learn first-hand about this diverse marine environment. We will enter the rugged coastal mountains and pristine wilderness of the Khutzeymateen Valley, home of the grizzly bears. You will have a chance to see these legendary giants in their natural environment. Bear watching begins in the spring when the grizzlies descend from their dens to feed on sedge grass along the lush shoreline. From the silence and safety of the boat, you may watch as they graze, often feeding on mussels and other sea treats. It is truly a photographer's paradise and will be the highlight of your summer.  At the end of the tour, you are returned to the airport to check-in for your dinner flight home.  A great way to spend any day!
